What was your New Year’s resolution in 2019? Spending more time with family? Finishing your school? Eating less junk food and starting a healthier diet? – So have you achieved those resolutions you set last year?

You might have achieved some of your New Year’s resolutions. But probably you have broken some of them too. Well, it is okay to fail in achieving something because plans can always be changed and modified according to the situation. Instead of wailing over what has been over, it would be better to move on and set a new goal.

So, have you made any New Year resolutions for the next year? As a graduate, there are good chances that landing a job would be among your New Year’s resolution. If this is totally what you think about, here are some inspiring resolution ideas you should try. Happy New Year!!!

Be more active in your social media platform

Avance Consulting survey showed that employers rely on social media as a recruiting platform and branding strategy. That said, if you plan to get hired on the new year, it is time to become more active in your social media platform. Currently, the most sought social media platform used by recruiters and companies are LinkedIn, Twitter, or Facebook, added Avance.

After that, create meaningful content in your social media. It does not mean you should merely post about the job-related matter. You can publish something of your interest too like fun memes, articles, videos, etc. “Meaningful content” here means you should not post something negative into your platform. If you happened to have posted negative contents or comments in the past,  do your homework and erase them from your social media soon.

Have a learning goal

Another thing you can do is to have a learning goal. It can be anything of your interests such as learning language, coding, painting, video-making, podcasting, or whatever you like. But remember during this one year, you should focus only on one or two learning and be a master of what you are learning. If you have so many learning goals in one year, it will only distract you from being an expert in it. Or worse, you might stop learning because it is too hard to maintain everything at once.

Get a new hobby

There’s this famous saying, “Find three hobbies you love: one to make you money, one to keep you in shape, and one to be creative.” Have you got them all?

Having hobbies is important as it helps you fight boredom from routine while giving you ways to gain new skills that will help you become a better person in the future. When you are falling in love deeply with your hobby, you can even start generating money from it.

For instance, you have a hobby to write anything, from writing an unachievable plan to writing a breakable schedule. You constantly bring book and pen everywhere to document any interesting events happen. Instead of keeping all by yourself, you can start documenting all of your thoughts and ideas on your own blog. When you have gained readers, you can start to upgrade the blog and making money from Google Ads. And since you love writing, you can start doing affiliate marketing for products or services you found interesting. With passion and will, something good will soon happen. Perhaps, during that one year, you can be a travel blogger or be a volunteer and help the refugees from the money you gain from your blogs. Who knows, right?

Find your productivity apps

How will you stay focus on your approach to fulfilling all those resolutions? One answer – have a fun time while pursuing all those goals.

Another question, how should you have a fun time? One answer – get an app or game you love. Just make sure you won’t be too addicted to playing the game or app.

You probably want to try the Pomodoro technique. This technique will require you to work in 25 minutes increments, then have 5 minutes breaks. After that, you work another 25 minutes and have longer breaks. After completing four 25 minutes increments, you can have a break 15 minutes up to 20 minutes. There is an app that can help you achieve the Pomodoro technique such as Focus Booster, Pomodone, or Pomodoro tracker.

Another app you can try is Forest. This one is favourited by many users and is available for iPhone and Android users. In Forest app, you can gain points for planting trees in order to buy another strange tree. This is good to shoo away your boredom. There are also Habitica, SuperBetter, Todoist Karma, EpicWin, Zombies, Run!, etc. Pick one you love or two for a bonus.
