#1   Get rid of unhealthy lifestyle

Frank Sonnenberg once said, “You cannot live an unhealthy lifestyle and expect a healthy outcome.”

There is no doubt that Sonnenberg’s statement is true. The most common example is eating habit. When you consume foods that contain too much-saturated fats, your body will react to it and you will be prone to obesity or heart disease. On the other hand, when you consume foods with balanced nutrition, your body will be healthy and you can do more activities.

The principle is pretty much the same as a successful life. When you want to succeed, you should give up unhealthy habits, including shopping spree, drinking spree, or any spree that will put you in debt.

#2   Get rid of the short-term mindset

Mae West once said, “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”

Mindset is what makes people thrive. It is also what successful people should have: a long-term mindset. #5   Get rid of perfectionism

Perfection does not exist in this world because how much you try, there will always be a slight mistake. Although you might not notice it, others would. Just like in writing, how many times you read the line, it looks great as you are the one who creates it. But when it is being proofread by others, they might find a few mistakes. So, get rid of your perfectionist mind. Just like Kahn Academy’s Development mantra, “Shipping beats perfection.”

#6   Get rid of multitasking behaviour

Winston Churchill once said, “You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.”

Every mindful leader knows about this. This is the reason why successful people only work on one thing, beat it into submission, and succeed with it. Remember that, being fully present and committed to one task is indispensable.

#7   Get rid of dependency on social media and television

Problem of our today’s society is an impulsive needs of browsing in social media and watching television. Cvijetic suggested that these two addictive screens should never be your escape whenever you are getting rest from your goals or life. Unless, of course, you goal depend on either.

  1.      Keep on looking for opportunity and lesson to learn

Although you work in a secure environment and a stable salary that gives you pension fund when retire, you should keep looking for a new opportunity to achieve personal growth. For example, you can attend a seminar or course that can widen your skill and knowledge. This kind of improvement will help you face problems ahead, both at work and personal life. You will also be recognised and – who knows – you will be promoted early because you keep improving.  

In addition, as hurdles can come in your way sooner or later, you need to be prepared for it. Equipping yourself with lesson and improvement is already goo. But you can also learn from your senior or elderly in your department. They are more experienced and usually are helpful.
